Two Tales: You Just Never Know...
Tale One:
Yesterday morning my dear friend gave me these adorable home made chocolate/marshmallows on a stick. I know! ;-) And she said 'You'll recognize these from a blog'. Oh really?...I don't really read food blogs, but she reminded me of 'This Week For Dinner', a blog I first found over two years ago that I raved to all my friends.
'That's too cool!' I said. 'Did you write a comment and let her know you did her idea? Did you send her a pic or anything?'
'Oh, no...you know I never leave comments.'
WHAT? This dear bloggy gal is never gonna know you used her cool recipe/idea! She'll never know how cute your final product was and how impressed all the recipients were of this gift!
Jump forward to yesterday afternoon...
Tale Two:
I received a very sweet and endearing email from a GFTW reader. The gist of her sweet holiday tale was this: She took to heart my personal growth goal to find tiny gestures of good will to do as they come up. She shared that her school had a real deal fire during lunch, the entire school had to be evacuated in the freezing cold, and despite all the mayhem, her students were rock stars at handling it all. After wards, she rallied up ~fifty plus hot cocoa's for her students and staff as her gesture of good will and her students were beside themselves with gratitude. She then topped it off by going round to all the other classrooms during her 'break' to see if the other teachers could use a bathroom break (as a fellow teacher this gesture is the BEST!!!) She then thanked me for setting the example, or offering up the goal.
Thank me? I didn't do all this? I just wrote the goal. She DID it.
And these two tales have me realize this: You just never know how/when you'll make an impression on somebody. And the power of that impression transcends and touches more people than you'll ever know. That's a powerful thought, and a perfect one to reflect on for this week.
Now... I'm off to leave a comment at 'This Week for Dinner' so she knows how sweet these sticks are!

It's also good to be reminded what a great support the blogging community can be for people. Again, I know it has been for me. But I forget that there are probably people out there who I am playing a part in supporting too.
In the end I think it's a feeling of reciprocity and mutual concern that makes the world a wonderful place to live -- thank you for the timely reminder! And have a great Christmas!
Nice! Thanks for sharing it! :)
I read your blog religiously but rarely comment. ( mostly because I see you a lot) but you have reminded me how great it is to read the comments. I LOVE, LOVE when you comment on mine, so it's your turn. I'm a big fan of the goals lists you make. I've been religious about my to do lists, but nothing further. Also, am I just noticing the tabs at the top of your page or are they new? Love them!
Hope you have a Merry Xmas and...I LOVE you, AM!
Ps - since I'm commenting, I love the icon that your reader Samantha G has!
