What's Workin' and Not So Much:Pre-Race Related!

What's Workin'
1. Are ya feelin' the threat of my sleek hair and wardrobe look? HA! This will most likely be my Race Day Get Up for my half on Saturday. This is me post run testin' it all out, and I think from the top down, my braids, no visor, shirt, FAVORITE Sugoi shorts, and shoes, are GtoG (Good to Go). As EMZ would say I'll  'Get er' done.'
2. I'm happy to report my uber cute Sugoi front pockets do in fact easily hold a gel on each side for my run. No...it won't be stickin' out like that for my race, but wanted to show what I was talking about.

3. And maybe most importantly: Love the FABULOUS mantra's you use on race day when you're doin' your thing. With a doubt, I'll  have both them and your 'voices' with me on race day. thank you;-)

What's Not:
1. Well, what's this? A-hem, it's my wadded up foot tape I ripped off ~4 miles into my run yesterday. I was testing whether I should maybe tape each foot as a precaution/mental relief for the race, but it actually suffocated my right foot/toes-so off it went...

2. Did you notice the lil' white bag by my foot in my first cool race photo. Well, that'd be a bag of frozen peas I used to ice the PF, achilles area of BOTH feet. So while the peas are workin', the idea of these pestering PF/feet probs in my brain on race day is NOT

So that's what's working and not so much for me. Now... lemme know, what' workin' and not so much for YOU this week?! Would love to hear:)

Not that it works for everyone, but massaging the foot bottom on a golf ball has helped my PF-like aches.

Cute outfit and hair!!! :)

Another idea for your PF is to use a tennis ball, can of beans, or a frozen water bottle. Just put them under your foot and roll back and forth. I hope it feels better soon!

The tape is uncomfortable, isn't it? But it works! I find I can manage it with lighter weight socks, usually. Have a great race!!
Good luck this weekend racing!!!

Working - Loving getting back into weight training

Not Working - but dealing with it, cut the carbs because I am not training for a race and its the off season. This sucks
V cute outfit! Good luck!

Hopefully they're handing out prizes for looking good, 'cuz you'll totally win! :-) Loving the braids.
Good luck this weekend!!
Cute Outfit! And nice legs! :) Good luck running this weekend. Sorry to hear about your PF. On my road to recovery after a complete tear of my hamstring, I am also trying to figure out will work and what will not work. Thinking those peas are going to be my best friend the next few weeks. And I can feed them to my one year old too (he loves frozen peas). :) Again good luck! It has been fun reading your blog as I attempt to break my way into blog land. I just started a new blog at http://runninghood-amanda.blogspot.com/ Excited to keep reading your blogs and connect with a community of fellow runs and mothers.
lol I love your pre race testing it out, I tried on my race outfit for this coming Sunday a few days ago. Since it's on Halloween you can run in costume and I wanted to make sure my outfit was run-able :). I didn't take pictures yet, I will on Sunday though.

I love the outfit! Blue is the best :)
Have a blast this weekend and if you run half as good as you look you will totally rock that race lady!
Cheers!

love the outfit.

That "wad" --- I saw it and seriously thought it was one of Peanut's socks. ugggg. how a sock can get so dirty after 6 hours at school is beyond me.

Ah, PF issues, I know them well. The Foot Wheel by the makers of The Stick is great. Also, does anyone in your area offer Shockwave Therapy? That's been helping me, got zapped today as a matter of fact. Finally, during my marathon I wore CEP compression socks and I didn't feel my PF at all; the socks help minimize muscle and tissue vibration.

Like you, my PF is not working, but the rest of me is. My past two runs, PF notwithstanding, have felt great. The marathon is finally out of my legs.

Killer outfit.
Love your outfit. I always test out what I am wearing race day just incase ;) I am not a fan of wearing caps while racing but when its rainy it always helps keep your eyes less wet ;)
Working:

*Finally mailing the card to my nephew! *whew!*

*Selling nearly 33% of our yearbooks BEFORE the end of the 1st quarter!!!!

*Students saying, "Man, that book work really wasn't bad. It helped me." :-)

*Volunteering with cancer patients-- does life get better?

Will-be-working:

*Enjoying 2-ish weeks off due to nasty trail accident. Yes, I'm listening to Professor Nurse Aunt who kicked my heini about what I should/shouldn't do for recovery! (Gotta respect the woman's advice or she might not give it again! :-)

*Reworking food intake and variety...

*No kids on Tuesday! November= only 1 full week of school!! (Oh, come on..we teachers need that break! :-) The kids do, too!! :-)

Good Luck to all on their mid-week journeys!

Have fun rockin' that half!
You're adorable in blue!
The high winds here and an apres marathon cold are not working for me.
The Halloween spirit makes up for it though.

This "freeze" pose is workin' for me...THAT'S what's workin' for me.

Awesome photo!! Love the pose - don't love that you are fighting PF though!! Is that hooky heel still giving you trouble as well?

Best of luck in your race!

*sigh* I want legs like yours....

best of everything with your half... one foot in front of the other... keep your eyes on the "prize"... all that good stuff! wishing you a pain-free, fleet-footed race!

what's working here: great motivation... still having it... even on rainy days.

what's not: just say "no" to white t-shirts when running in the rain!
