Two Things Tri Tuesday

1. I got my new training program for the month. YES! I didn't realize how much I need the program/structure to keep me going and give me focus for these next few months. But the BIG thing now is...I need to follow up on my end and is fill out the dang feedback form (above) more consistently. Doesn't it look like a joy? The 3 vertical sections are for swim, bike, run, and the horizontal rows are for each day. He'd also like to know my daily weight, resting hr, cadence, heart rate, kids social security numbers...you get the gist. So it's own my radar to do daily this week.

2. It's shining over here again. YES! Here's the backyard 20 minutes ago. This weather will make any workout worth it in my book:

Just wondering, how/what do you use for training log/feedback form? And do you like it? I'm slowly gettin' back in the groove baby. Hope it's sunny in your land today

LOVE LOVE LOVE training schedules. I actually keep track on two different things -
1. a Word calendar document - here I can note more things such as how I felt, if I worked out in the AM/PM, stars for at the gym (to get my health care refund), and if I were sick or traveling.
2. I made a spread sheet in Excel... it's much cleaner and easy to read.

One might say I am obsessed. I would like to find a journal to keep track of these things as well - more room to note how I was feeling and such. :)
Sometimes a new training plan or even a tweek will do wonders to your training

I've only ever used a basic half-marathon training plan. But I've never analyzed the data. I don't know why I don't. It's what I do for work.

I keep a google calendar for my exercise. I don't really have a training program but am thinking maybe I should.
Glad its sunny where you are! Its sunny here too for now but storms coming tonight!
I need to keep a schedule like that for myself. Great idea! I have this weird obsession with filling out charts and stuff, so I'll probably stay on track better if I chart out what I'm doing.

You have a nice back garden :)

I blog all of my workouts so I get feedback from fellow bloggers and I can easily go back and check on progress, keep track of my goals. For my half marathon I've been following a program but exactly as I've had to modify it to allow for my current mileage.

If you have time to fit it in, check out my core challenge that I've just posted, it should be fun and there's a small prize up for grabs at the end :)

Yes, I have to have a schedule to keep me accountable....I am way too relaxed about the whole thing! I wish I had a coach...that would be better...but there is not one near! bummer! I am finding that the blogging thing works just as good as a coach..tons of great advice and someone to report to.

Hi AM, I'm glad you got your new schedule! I used to work with a trainer/coach and really miss having my schedule to keep me more accountable and take the guess-work out of what I need to do. I need to find a system other than my crappy Word document which can keep track better. Maybe excel, but I'd have to take a class cuz I can't even learn how to use my Garmin on my own. haha. Glad the sunshine is out for you today, the wee-ones will love it...as will mom! :) Enjoy your day!

I do need a schedule, as detailed as possible. I'm not a good rule follower and I like to switch things up but a schedule at least keeps me moving straight ahead. Goals, as you've said, are important and a schedule is like the guide towards those goals. How fun, good luck!

I haven't followed a coached workout or schedule of any sort for years. But--I feel like I have learned so much over the years from when I did have a coach, from my speedy training partners, and from lots of reading that I feel like I somewhat know what I am doing. I am actually getting my RRCA certification soon, so that should help, right?

My coach does a two week plan....We use the go ultra sports website...it's awesome! I just log on and see what's on tap for the day...do it and and as soon as I get back I upload directly to the site off from my garmin...Then I add a few subjective comments about how things went, and we are done! You should check out the site it is wonderful...(you can add all your other stuff like resting HR and all that in to the daily vitals area...)Did I mention I love the site!

i just write what i am going to do, but not distances and such. i wish i got some sort of workout for the week from some coach but i don't ....i also like to log in runs but bikes and swims don't work so well b/c i am doing spin and swims are more interval types.

I have to have a training plan/log! I use a plan and log at beginnertriathlete.com, I also log on Buckeyeoutdoors.com, AND I have a hand written plan that I keep on my fridge. It shows the current month with all my workouts written out. When I complete a workout I highlight it (blue for swim, green for run, yellow for bike, etc..). Yes, it may be overkill, but I feel like i really need it to keep me going.

Definitely LOVE the training plan. I feel LOST w/o one. I'm old school though.. just print it out to hang where I can see. Mark off days as I go and make notes as needed. I also log on dailymile... just so it can add for me and I can chat w/ other people. Having to put it out there helps me.. or, er, freaks me out into kicking my own A$$??? I would love to have a coach... maybe whenever I get around to doing Ironman! :)

I am now halfway through my first ever training schedule...and I'm really liking this. I love the feeling of a job well done that comes when I cross a workout off my schedule. Very cool!
Now go and enjoy your amazing weather :)

Yay for the sun!
I use my FIRST book for my plan but used to put my actual mileage/feedback on a regular calendar until I went digital can you believe it's 2 years almost?
Since then I don't have a system I really like. I should look into downloading an 'app' aren't I so happening? ;) I did finally get on DailyMile too.

I have to say, reading all of your ways of planning and training is fabo! so glad I asked!

One of these days I'll download my garmin and see what I've done. I'm so not type A about training. I do what the coach says (for the most part) and can usually remember big weeks, but the rest is too much.

BTW, I ran with the tempo trainer this PM on my brick run. Made it easy to hit a cadence of 90. Too bad a cadence of 90 did not seem easy. But I guess it will eventually.

Hi Anne Marie,
I have been using the Grandma's half training schedule that they e-mailed me. It is not as fancy as yours:) It is nice to have an idea of how far and what type of tempo they suggest for each run. I don't swim or bike yet so my schedule would be much different than yours. Have a great day Anne Marie:)

I like to have a couple training schedules and usually wind up combining them somehow. I've also been known to invent my own and just keep it in my head. I do faithfully track all my workouts with dailymile.com though. So atleast I can accurately track my progress through the year.

I love getting a new training plan! Good luck filling out that form. I track my workouts on Training Peaks, the free version. It's okay. I will probably buy one of their training plans when I train for NYCM so that it is all in one spot.

I LOVE planning my training but I hate following the plan. Isn't that weird? When I don't hit the miles or miss a workout I feel miserable and when I exceed the mileage I worry that maybe I will get injured. So I am trying to make my training plans very flexible.
As for logging, I have been using RunningAhead for years. It is a free online tool that allows you to track all kinds of exercise and as a bonus has a wonderful running community. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Yay it's so cool to see the logo on your site hehe!

Those lifts totally are deceiving... I think I'm going to go back to the old faithful heavy lunges! At least the lunges don't interfere with my other stuff!

I have been lost without a training plan... mostly just wasting time not knowing what I should be doing and not feeling like doing anything. So starting May it's back on!
