What's Working and Not: Less is More and More is Less!

1. So this ain't the most attractive shot, but wanted to show me at the END of my speedwork session. I set out at the beginning with a tank top and running skirt as well, but as soon as I started my first 800, I couldn't handle ANY extra clothing on me! It's like the world class runners' wardrobe became my new fashion staple I coveted. I now understood why they wear speedo style bottoms and bra and nothing else. I didn't want ANY extra clothing on my body. So I ripped off my tank, and rolled up skirt part and tucked it into my waist. It definitely helped. I at least felt speedier... and it sorta translated into my times. But now a new note to self: Less is More with my clothing on speedwork days!

2. I'm working way MORE than normal this week and it consists of me basically standing for 7-8 hours on my feet. This my friend is not the best for my feet, PF and most importantly getting my workouts in. I'm finding way Less time and energy to rally to get in that ~30 min functional training, swim, bike, or run. More work means Less time/energy for training. oy. But I'm slated to do my FT this am, and a run right after work....ya think I can do it?

That's what's working and not so much for me this week. What's working/not for you so far this week? Talk to me, talk to me;-)
I'm off to finish breakfast and get in that functional training session!;-)

Sleep is both working and not working for me this week. I've become acutely aware of how sleep, or lack thereof, is affecting all aspects of my life, including training. Got a great night's sleep Monday night, and had a great run and work day on Tuesday. Didn't get enough sleep last night and slogged through a run this morning and can't concentrate at work. Still trying to convince myself to get better about this.

My eating is not working for me right now. I have been making very poor decisions and I need to get back on track!

I love the sweaty "less is more" shot! You look great!

My legs ache when I get home from work after standing for 8 hours everyday. So not fun! You look so cute n your less clothing pic - you rank right up there with all those elite :).

I've had to incorporate speed twice a week into my work outs...It helps take the monotany out of the distance runs!

Working- sleep is good, diet is good.

Not working- I am not getting enough time in my studio, lets call it "time management".

In the middle- my left shin, went for my first run in over 10 days and things went pretty OK, but I don't want to jinx it, still a little bit of tension in that area.

I love the photo!

You rolled up the skirt part you hardcore badass!
The cooler temps are definitely working for me this week...the 40mph winds not so much.

I think that's hilarious that you rolled up the skirt and tucked it in...ha ha! I know what you mean about not wanting extra clothing with speed work though! Now, if I could only get my speed work in...that's what's definitely NOT working right now..ugh!

You look great! I've been so tempted to do that so many times this summer!
Working:

*avoiding 95% of the crap food in teacher's lounge, co-workers rooms, my room (bartering system for tissues..), etc.

*getting out 1st two days of school to run.... and prob Friday for a swim! :-)

*allowing my 5th period kiddos to snack on healthy snacks. Let's face it- by 11:10 we're ALL hungry.... we ALL need food to be able to think. :-)

I had cliff bar and grape munching kids today :-) As it was day 1 and a spontaneous, I also had a few pop tart and kit kat kids... :-)

Needs Improvement:

*Hydration... why am I so thirsty at school? Really, can someone explain this?

*Hydration times/permission to hydrate- something every teacher deals with. Even with my classroom next to the bathroom I feel guility about taking pass time to use it-- 'cause they come early at times!

*Avoiding the mini munchies in a Science classroom.... no matter how small, they still count and need to be avoided!

Overall- much, much improved from the start of last school year! :-)

My allergy medicine and iron supps are working for me this week!!

Eating while traveling for work on the weekends is NOT working for me. Its so hard to eat away from home and still feel good.
I agree less clothing is more!

working- no refined sugar this week..doing great so far, my daughter making super healthy choices for her packed lunch...I'm so proud of her!

not working- my right leg...pain in my knee and hamstring and I'm not sure why.

fifty-fifty- it's cooled down here - 52 degrees this morning (yay!), but I wore long sleeves...not working!

Working two jobs in one day... having no time to train... with a tri coming up this weekend... not working for me!

You crazy stripper! You're probably making many men happy around the neighborhood, though!

Yeah, being on your feet that much is not fun for the PF--boo!

Have a great weekend.

Gosh, I can relate. I don't even bother starting with a shirt half the time. My body is like a furnace... and Florida doesn't help.

What's working this week: Hydration & sleep. I've been short on hydration for most of the summer, but have really been diligent about it over the past 3 weeks. It's helped a ton! My sleep waxes and wanes. Last week it was horrible. This week is much better.

What's not working: My pesky, thorn in the side, overly tight iliopsoas, which ends up affecting my lower back when I run. Grrr...

Have a great weekend!

You are doing great, keep it up and you will see more good result. Nice picture anyway. I like it.

Are you doing your speedwork at home? I don't see the point of wearing anything more than a sports bra when I run at home. Even in the winter. I just get hot.
